So how long does this take you? That’s at least a half days work for me.

About three hours from engine bay to final inspection.

I had told the owner (who works at the sandwich shop at the end of the street) two hours but as I had the car for five hours I wanted to make sure it was all done. The few scratches and heavy tar and fallout slowed things down and the final half hour was walking round doing a final inspection of runs, smearing, buffing any dressing for an equal sheen.

Thanks. It belongs to a woman who works at a sandwich shop at the end of the street.

In the past it would of taken longer but products now such as Gyeon Wetcoat mean I don’t have to dry, apply a sealant and buff, I can spray the Wetcoat on a wet car, spray with the pressure washer to activate and then just dry the car. Wheels, paint and glass protected in one. AutoBrite Jaffa Clean, spray on engine bay, agitate and wipe, door shuts are just spray, let dwell, pressure rinse and dry. It’s a cleaner, degreaser and protectant in one. Not to mention all the other products.

Means I touch the car less, which inflicts less damage to the car body.

How do you keep the rotors from rusting? My ISF gets the wheels so dirty, so quick because the dust coming off them after washing.

Ye’, that’s the stuff. You shouldn’t need four litres of it unless you’ve a few cars, Wetcoat will last a good two months easily with three months being it’s stated working life, using a drying aid after a regular wash will add to the protection and prolong the life on the sealant.

Gyeon Weycoat.

You can make it easier on yourself if you have a snow foam lance/canon.

CarPro Hydrofoam is a shampoo and sealant, so your washing and sealing at the same time, you can either dry on use Gyeon Cure as a drying aid which is also a standalone sealant, you can use CarPro Reload which is cheaper in place of Gyeon Cure.

((I love watching this guy, pissing it down and he’s outside washing his vehicle, a man after my own heart))

Here’s a video of a U.S. guy using Hydrofoam on his Range Rover, note how he’s doing it a couple of panels at a time, that’s because he’s in a hot climate, in cooler climates you can do the whole car in one.

Things I use for a wash,

Bilt Hamber Surfex HD, degreaser, pre-wash and scrubbing tyres and wheel arches,

Autobrite Jaffa Clean, degreaser, protectant, engine and door huts,

Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel cleaner,

Bilt Hamber Autowheels, cleaner and fallout remover in one,

Gtechniq Citrus Foam, snow foam,

Gtechniq Gwash, car shampoo,

Gyeon Wetcoat, spray sealant,

Gyeon Cure, drying aid,

Gtechniq I2ab, all surface anti bacterial cleaner,

Gtechniq C6, interior plastic restorer and protectant,

Gyeon Glass or Gtechniq G6 glass cleaner,

303 Aerospcae protectant, dressing engine bays,

AutoFinesse ObliTARate, tar remover,

I added to the bottom of my last post of some of the other stuff I use most often.

The first clean always takes the longest but the next ones in a month or so will take an hour or so from then.

If you have any questions. Fire away.

It’s a real minefield out there these days with so many manufacturers and products.

No worries. Check out Autogeek for discounts.

For the rest of the world there is Detailing World, they are a world wide forum but all the discounts are U.K. and central Europe related.

Sorry mate, I forgot this post was here.

I don’t. Mainly because you can’t. You can get a spray that stops them rusting after a wash so they look good, but as soon as you use the brakes it’ll remove it and you gets rusted discs.

It’s the general nature of the beast I’m afraid.

You can buy brake pads that dust less than others but the rotors will always show superficial surface rust.

The dust your getting is from the pads, so check you car body. Brake dust can penetrate into the paint and cause blistering as the brake dust rusts and expands, etc...

Fallout removers will dissolve the brake dust leaving the paint unhurt.

All these purple runs are brake dust dissolving and running off, pressure rinse and then wash to make sure you’ve removed all the product and job done.

I’m a member of both Autogeek and DW. I’m not on either as much as I used to be but was never on Autogeek much as I didn’t find the forum well set out but wanted to see what was out there.
